Ponders End Wargaming Club

Volume 2, Issue 1 - January 2002

EDITORAL

Hello and welcome to another year of toy soldiers, infallible battle strategies and outrageous dice rolls. We hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year, and that you have some nice new, shiny toys.

As we begin this new year, there are a couple of important issues to make you all aware of:

- Membership is due again at £20 for the year, with subs staying at £2 a night for members & £3 for non-members. As the yearly membership saves you, at least, £30 a year, with other benefits as well, it is obviously well worth it if you are a regular attendee.

- Committee Elections are due at the end of January. If you are interested in standing for a position please speak to Shaun.

The positions & current holders are:

Chair/New Members - Shaun McTague
Treasurer - Rob West
Events Co-ordinator - Steve Fase
Newsletter Editor - Jonathan Clements
Website Editor - Andrew Burns

The main evening 40k/Fantasy split will continue as follows:

January 8th 40,000 February 5th 40,000
January 15th Fantasy February 12th Fantasy
January 22nd 40,000 February 19th 40,000
January 29th Fantasy February 26th Fantasy

WARHAMMER

A 5-week 2000pt tournament league will start from January 29th, with January 15th being a 2000pt Bring & Battle evening, a good chance to test out your army lists.

As well as that, Steve is interested in running an Albion based Mordheim game to be played as the main games finish.

For further information on both of the above please see Steve.

WARHAMMER 40,000

A 5- week 1500pt tournament league will start from January 22nd and will run along similar lines to the Warhammer Fantasy tournament, with points for painting, rules knowledge and sportsmanship.

If you are interested in participating, please see Steve for further information.

PBI 2

This WWII game will continue to be run by Shaun on a weekly basis, with the Campaign Day running on Saturday 2nd March. Please feel free to sit in & watch a game if you have the chance, as it is quite easy to pick up.

WARMASTER

This will continue to be run on a weekly basis by Richard.

WEEKEND EVENTS

Other than the PBI 2 campaign day, we are also looking to run more regular campaign days throughout the coming year, hopefully up to every 2 months for as many systems as we have interest for.
The next day is most likely going to be a Warhammer Fantasy Battles one, so keep watching this space for further details.

NEW SCENERY

The club has recently spent a substantial amount on new scenery, which will very soon be in use. At the same time we will be improving the scenery storage to protect our investment.
We would ask all members & attendees to help us out by taking care using & storing the scenery as it does belong to all of us. Thank you.

LAST WORDS

If you want to keep up with the goings on in the club on a weekly basis, check out the club's website at: http://www.pewc.co.uk.

The site contains more detailed information on upcoming events, such as the PBI 2 campaign day, as well as the rules that are used for the clubs tournaments & leagues.

If you have anything you'd like to see in the newsletter or have any comments or suggestions you'd like to make, either see Jonathan on a Tuesday night on e-mail them to undead_jon@yahoo.co.uk
